Bespoke Garden Foot Bridge

I was approached to design and make a unique bespoke garden foot bridge for a beautiful period cottage The new bridge was commissioned  to replace the existing rotting one, I think we have done just that!

This bridge was created using local Sweet Chestnut, I’ve incorporated some steam bending to create the hand rails and the sides and installed anti slip decking strips for maximum grip in all seasons. The main structure has been made using carefully selected trees which have the natural curve to them.

Oak Driveway And Side Gates

These Oak Driveway and Side Gates were commissioned by a lovely couple I met at the Craft in Focus event at RHS Garden Wisley. I had a picture of a steam bent gate on my stand that I created a few years ago and the conversation started from there.

I came up with some designs for the client and here is the finished product. From design to creation, we offer the full service.

A huge part of what we love here at HWD is sourcing the timber in the tree and being a part of the whole process through to the final product. In these gates the Oak came from West Chiltington and the Ash from Nutbourne  both less then 10 miles from our workshop in West Sussex.
